LC Style: Ian Rex

Rex (’17) pulls from minimalism, Portland streets, thrift stores, and advice from his mom to inspire and fill his wardrobe.

By Demi Glidden /// LC Style Editor

Rex is a biology major and dancer here at LC. He has subtle, but crisp style that pulls from all different sources of inspiration. Below, you’ll find three outfits that he put together to give a sense of his identity, and some thoughts on fashion and style.

“It started really badly because my first thought of style was to match all my shoes with my shirts, and so, like, green shirt, green shoes. Everyday my shirt would match my shoes.”

“Minimalism, I guess is kinda my thing, like I generally just wear black jeans. I’m really into solid colors, not heavy patterns.”

“I got the jersey from my old high school. And I’ve actually lived on my high school campus my whole life. My mom works there, so we live on the campus…they were switching colors and that was about 20 years ago… and I was able to get my hands on one.”

I don’t really follow people, I kinda follow trends and what’s in. You have to walk around, and just sit in Portland and people watch, and say, ‘Now I’m digging that look that person is going for.’ And then take aspects of it and put it into your wardrobe.”

I’m not one who can rock crazy patterns, but I really appreciate that on other people.”
